Moffett Place is a new 1.6M square foot campus in Sunnyvale, CA. The campus consists of 8 story buildings with future plans for a sixth, one amenity’s building and 3 parking structures. Each building features a built-up HVAC penthouses at the roof level with a 700 ton chiller plant and a 5,000MBH boiler room. These systems were installed by the core and shell contractor.

SVM was contracted as a design build contractor for the tenant improvements for three of the five 8 story buildings. Each building has 6 floors of office space and two floors of amenities spaces including gyms, tech talks, cafes, teaching kitchens, laundry rooms, executive business centers. SVM worked closely with Devcon Construction and WSP (MEP consultant) to design and deliver these projects on expedited schedules. The existing HVAC systems were modified to accommodate the customer standards, with dedicated 24/7 systems installed to serve IT, lab and amenity space loads. Each penthouse air handler was retrofitted into a chilled and heating changeover coil to add preheat for morning warm up to further enhance employee comfort levels.

All projects were coordinated and fabricated through the BIM process to level of detail 300. The primary goals for SVM’s engineering and detailing department was to ensure proper access to mechanical equipment and to aesthetically meld the mechanical systems into the high-end architectural design. The projects were successfully delivered on time and within budget as part of a phased schedule between 2016-2018.
